About the charity

The Mission to Seafarers

Caring for the people who keep world trade moving, wherever their work takes them.

Who we are

Support for life at sea and ashore

The Mission to Seafarers is a Christian maritime welfare charity supporting seafarers of every faith, nationality, gender and rank. Its history dates back to 1856, and today its network of chaplains, staff and volunteers works in more than 200 ports across 50 countries, day and night, throughout the year.

Seafarers can spend many months away from home, often facing isolation, demanding working conditions, limited internet access and personal or family difficulties. The Mission offers practical, emotional and spiritual care, helping crew members feel safe, connected and supported when they need it most.

Its purpose is simple: to care for the shipping industry’s most important asset — its people.
