Open Sky

Verse 1

I don’t need a crown to have a say
You don’t need permission to be brave
Different dreams and different points of view
Still there’s room enough for me and you
When the shadows gather in the street
We can light the dark when voices meet
Hand in hand, we’re stronger than the fear
This is our tomorrow starting here

Pre Chorus

No wall can hold a hopeful heart
No lie can keep us in the dark
We choose the road, we choose the way
And every voice deserves its day

Chorus

We are free, we are free
To become who we believe that we can be
Raise your voice, make your choice
Every whisper joins a million others’ noise
Side by side, we decide
No one’s dream should ever have to hide
Underneath this open sky
Democracy is you and I

Verse 2

Freedom isn’t handed down in gold
It’s a promise every generation holds
It’s the right to question and to speak
And the strength to stand beside the weak
We may disagree along the way
But we listen to what others have to say
There is courage in an open mind
And a better world is ours to find

Pre Chorus

No wall can hold a hopeful heart
No lie can keep us in the dark
We choose the road, we choose the way
And every voice deserves its day

Chorus

We are free, we are free
To become who we believe that we can be
Raise your voice, make your choice
Every whisper joins a million others’ noise
Side by side, we decide
No one’s dream should ever have to hide
Underneath this open sky
Democracy is you and I

Bridge

If one voice shakes, then we’ll sing along
If one light fades, we’ll keep it burning strong
Liberty lives every time we stand
For truth, for hope, for every fellow hand

Final Chorus

We are free, we are free
Building something bigger than we’ll ever see
Raise your voice, make your choice
Let the future hear the power of our noise
Side by side, we decide
Freedom lives when everyone can rise
Underneath this open sky
Democracy is you and I

Spoken Ending

You and I
